I spent years thinking sparkly earrings just weren’t for me.
I’ve had sensitive ears for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I loved earrings, but my ears didn’t. Even earrings labelled “safe for sensitive ears” would leave my ears itchy, irritated and infected. At times, even the lymph nodes behind my ears would become swollen.
Eventually, I did what so many people with sensitive ears do — I stopped wearing earrings.
Years later, when I became a body piercer, I was introduced to implant-grade titanium. I began using ASTM F-136 titanium for fresh piercings and saw firsthand what a difference quality jewellery could make.
But there was still something missing.
I wanted sparkle.
Most of the beautiful crystal earrings I found were made with metals I personally couldn’t comfortably wear. I wanted the colour, shine and sparkle I loved — without going back to the irritation I had dealt with for years.
So after working with a titanium jewellery manufacturer and trusting their titanium in my own piercing work, I asked them to create something especially for me: a collection of beautiful, sparkly earrings made with implant-grade titanium.
And that’s how Christinium® began.
The name is personal, too. My middle name is Christine, and when my husband suggested combining Christine with titanium, Christinium® was born.
What started as a solution for my own sensitive ears has grown into a jewellery brand for others who have been told they’re “too sensitive” for earrings — or who simply want beautiful jewellery made with quality materials.
Today, Christinium® is growing beyond our signature crystal studs, with new designs created around the same idea that started it all:
